Diet and lifestyle during pregnancy linked to DNA changes

Obesity during pregnancy is linked to modifications in the infants DNA according to new studies results released from Kings College in London.

Pregnant women who experience an elevated blood glucose level, obesity and Gestational Diabetes (GDM) not only face an increased risk of complications in pregnancy and childbirth but also increase the risk of metabolic disease in their child  altering it’s DNA and leading to poorer health outcomes in later life.

While it would be Ideal for overweight women contemplating pregnancy to reduce their weight before pregnancy this new research shows that even minor changes in diet and exercise during pregnancy can still have a very positive effect on the mother and baby
