Sport during school is linked to academic performance

New research from the University of Sydney has shown a positive link between participation in sport and academic performance.

The strongest association occurred when sport was held during school hours.

The research reviewed, combined and analysed the result of 115 studies conducted  worldwide (mostly in USA) with a total of more than 1 million students between 9-18yrs.

  • What was the link between sport and academic achievement?

  • What was the dose relationship? ie how much sport played each week produced the greatest benefit?
