Swap ‘fat shaming’ for empowerment coaching

Do you comment on your partners weight in a negative way hoping to shame them into weight loss?

Research shows that this approach doesn’t work and over time can gnaw away at their feelings of self-worth.

You can’t change other people’s behaviour as this is something they need to do for themselves. Better to focus on the things that they do well and offer support.

This is my approach. I find helping people to discover the quickest way to get all the energy and nutrients they need each day and offering them nutrition education and support works well so that dietary changes can be maintained long-term for better health. That’s something to be proud of.
