Fluoride Facts

Most of us will have been appalled at the recent media reports on the poor state of children’s teeth in NZ.

Currently dental health is free in NZ up to the age of 18years. There has been discussion that this free service should be extended for some people into their mid 20’s.

Is there other things we could be doing?

Along with brushing teeth twice a day; eating healthy food and avoiding sugar containing drinks, water fluoridation helps to prevent tooth decay.

Over half of children and one third of adults do not brush twice daily using the recommended fluoride toothpaste so water fluoridation is particularly important.

I recognize that for some people this is a very controversial topic however the health of our children now and in the future is important.
