Cancer remains New Zealand’s number one killer, with more than 23,000 people diagnosed every year.

Figures released by the Ministry of Health in May 2018 showed more than 9500 people died from cancer each year, representing 31% of all deaths in NZ.

The number of people affected by cancer in NZ is expected to increase to 50% by 2035.
