Ten tips for a healthier christmas

If you are keen to finish this year on a high note then here are a few tips to set you onto a healthier path for the year ahead.

1. Keep bug free- Clean- wash your hands

  • Cook- food well
  • Chill- keep all animal related foods in the fridge
  • Cover- food not in use

2. Keep sun safe- Slip on a shirt

  • Slap on a hat
  • Slop on some sun block and top up regularly especially after swims

3. Keep well hydrated More water not wine

More calci trim milk and less soft drink

4. Mind your meat

Can you buy sliced ham this year instead of a leg?

5. Eat more fish

Sorry fish and chips don’t count! Try salmon or canned tuna for a clearer brain

6. Lower fat

  • Try frozen yoghurt instead of ice-cream or cream
  • You may have heard nuts are healthy but not when covered with chocolate or salt
  • 5 nuts have the same number of calories as a teaspoon of butter so mind those handfuls.

7. Recycle food

Be a ‘greeny’ you don’t have to eat everything on Christmas day, tomorrow will come for most of us so if they are still fresh then keep leftovers for another meal.

8. Play more

See that extra weight you carry as stored energy and channel it into playing with the kids or going for a walk or picking up a hobby.

9. Share more

Support the City Mission this Christmas as there are always people in need of your love

10. Have fun Smile and enjoy life

This is the only one you have so look after it.

Laughter really is the best medicine. If all fails then come in for a chat in January.
